Vivid full-color output
Sublimation handles multi-color artwork, photography and gradients without separating the design into individual print colors.
Sublimation printing
Create detailed, full-color designs on compatible polyester products and selected accessories.
What is sublimation?
Sublimation uses specially formulated inks and controlled heat to transfer a digital design into a compatible polyester material or polymer-coated surface. During the process, the ink changes into gas and bonds with the material before returning to a solid state as it cools.
The result is a smooth printed finish that works especially well for products where color intensity, detail and a clean surface feel matter.
Why sublimation?
On products made for sublimation, the process works especially well with gradients, photography and detailed digital artwork.
Sublimation handles multi-color artwork, photography and gradients without separating the design into individual print colors.
Digital artwork can retain small details, tonal transitions and complex visual information when prepared at the correct resolution.
Because the decoration becomes part of the compatible surface, the result does not leave a thick print layer on top of the product.
It is well suited to designs that change from order to order, especially when each version still needs rich color and consistent digital detail.
Sublimation products
In Snapwear, the printing technology is assigned to the product. Sublimation is used for selected compatible drinkware, accessories and polyester-based products in the catalog.
A strong fit for products that use a sublimation-ready surface and benefit from bright, wraparound artwork.
Selected compatible accessories use sublimation to reproduce illustrations, names, photographs and other detailed digital artwork.
Useful for compatible home and lifestyle products that need colorful decoration and good reproduction of digital artwork.
Sublimation in AOP
For selected all-over-print products, sublimation is used at the fabric stage rather than on a finished garment. The artwork is transferred across compatible polyester fabric, which is then cut and sewn into the final product.
This makes it possible to build designs that cover the product far beyond a standard front or back print area.
Material compatibility
Sublimation is used only on products whose material or coating is compatible with the process. In Snapwear, the production technology is assigned to the product, so only selected catalog items use sublimation.
This includes compatible polyester textiles, selected polyester blends and products prepared with a sublimation-ready polymer coating, such as selected drinkware.
Sublimation inks are transparent, so the product color remains part of the final design. White and light-colored compatible surfaces provide the widest usable color range.
Production process
Once the product is compatible, a successful transfer depends on correct file setup and a controlled combination of time, temperature and pressure.
The production file is printed in reverse onto sublimation transfer paper so the design appears correctly once transferred.
The correct combination of these three factors activates the sublimation inks and transfers the artwork into compatible polyester fibers or a prepared coating.
As the product cools, the ink returns to a solid state inside the compatible material, leaving a smooth printed result.
Artwork preparation
Sublimation reproduces complex digital artwork well, but the base material still matters. Prepare the file for the exact product and print area, and remember that unprinted or transparent areas reveal the product underneath.
Prepare and export your artwork in RGB. This preserves a broader working color range before the file enters the production color-management workflow.
Build the artwork at the production dimensions assigned to the product and use high-resolution source files, especially for photography and small details.
White elements in the artwork are normally created by leaving the product surface unprinted. On anything other than a white base, that base color will influence the visual result.

FAQ
A quick guide to how sublimation is assigned to products, how Polyester AOP differs and what to expect from color reproduction.
You choose the product rather than the print technology. Sublimation is already assigned to selected compatible products in the Snapwear catalog.
No. For selected Polyester AOP products, the artwork is transferred to the fabric first. The printed fabric is then cut and sewn into the finished product.
Because sublimation does not use opaque white ink, the base color remains visible through the design. See the material compatibility section above for how this affects product color.
Screens emit light, while a physical product reflects it. Material, coating and the transfer process can also influence the final appearance, so a production sample is recommended when exact brand color is critical.
